Richmond stamps

Questions, questions, questions… We all have them, even after we’ve studied something and ‘think’ we know all the answers!

Hopefully the following C2C Passport Q & A will address some of the questions you might have, however if there are still things you want an explanation for, please just let us know.

Also, if you have more general questions about any aspect of the Coast to Coast, please feel  free to ask us what’s on your mind. We have been working with Coast to Coasters since 1975!

Answering your queries should be fun

A - We try to send out orders within a day or two of receiving them. All of the Passports are dispatched using a Royal Mail 48 Hour tracked service.

A - Sadly, international postage rates even for small items are painfully expensive. Also, there is often custom declaration paperwork to complete for the majority of overseas destinations. As the Passport is run mainly by volunteers, we have regrettably decided not to do this because of the extra volume of work it creates. However, we will post Passport to walkers who are coming from outside the UK, to the first place (accommodation provider) they are going to spend the night before they begin their journey. ALSO, there are many places in St Bees and Robin Hood’s Bay (if you are walking East to West) where you can buy the Passport when you arrive.

A - The Passport Office has told ALL agents that they are to freely give Passport Stamps without any commercial transaction being required. We cannot control what happens ‘on the ground’ but if you are asked to buy some sweets or a glass of beer in exchange for a stamp, strictly speaking this is NOT within the spirit of the Passport Programme. You must decide whether you wish to make a purchase or simply try using a different Agent at your chosen location.

A - YES - We have received grants from Natural England, North Yorkshire Council, Cumberland Council, Westmorland and Furness Council, The North York Moors National Park and The Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Wainwright Society has also made a donation to help us realise this initiative.
